Get Involved with The Gulf Shores Plan as a Community Ambassador!

The City of Gulf Shores is seeking Expressions of Interest from active and well-connected community members to serve as informal Community Ambassadors during the development of the City's new Comprehensive Plan.

About The Gulf Shores Plan

The Gulf Shores Plan is a citywide planning effort that will guide decision-making, investment, and growth through 2045. Building upon the City's Vision 2035 Plan, the Comprehensive Plan will establish a shared vision and actionable strategies for the future of Gulf Shores.

The plan will address topics such as land use, housing, transportation, economic development, parks and open space, environmental resilience, infrastructure, and public services. It will serve as a roadmap for elected officials, City staff, residents, businesses, and community partners as they work together to shape the city's future.

Through community engagement and data-driven analysis, the Gulf Shores Plan will create a framework for managing change while supporting the needs of current and future residents.

What are Community Ambassadors?

Community Ambassadors are trusted representatives from local organizations, neighborhood groups, faith-based institutions, schools, businesses, and community networks throughout Gulf Shores. They serve as liaisons between the planning process and the communities they represent—sharing information, promoting engagement opportunities, and helping gather input.

By working through established relationships and meeting people where they are, Community Ambassadors help expand participation beyond traditional outreach methods and support a more inclusive and representative planning process.

Participation is flexible and designed to fit within Ambassadors' existing community involvement. Ambassadors will receive project updates, engagement materials, and opportunities to help share information and encourage participation at key moments throughout the planning process.

Whether you're involved in a local organization, connected to a community network, or simply passionate about the future of Gulf Shores, we encourage you to apply and help shape the Gulf Shores Plan.

Expressions of Interest will be accepted on a rolling basis

We will continue to seek out Community Ambassadors throughout the planning process as a way to reach more of the Gulf Shores community. We welcome your interest and look forward to collaborating with you on creative approaches to engaging your community more meaningfully!

Community Ambassadors will be provided with an introductory toolkit and updated materials and resources throughout the planning process to support their outreach and engagement efforts.

Organize/host kitchen table conversations

Share information about The Gulf Shores Plan and upcoming events with your network via email, social media, newsletters, etc.

Gather input from your community via surveys, worksheets, and other means

Distribute The Gulf Shores Plan event flyers, newsletters, and other informational materials

Host a pop-up table or station at external events to share information about The Gulf Shores Plan and/or gather input from the community

Invite representatives of the planning team to your event to tell your community more about The Gulf Shores Plan
