14:00-16:00 at SW00 in the William Gates Building on the 27th of August
Workshop Description:
In this workshop, Artist Atalanta Xanthe will be sharing how she uses informational loss in the image to text transition as a method of making funny, striking and highly personal art. No drawing skills or prior art knowledge required in this workshop. Atalanta will talk about her method of working and take you through a series of drawing games. This promises to be the only workshop taught at Cambridge this month which covers biblical illumination, medieval rumors of a penis tree, the correct way to sharpen a pencil, and, of course, ai.
About the Artist:
Atalanta Xanthe is an internationally exhibited painter and sculptor, trained at the University of Oxford and the New York Academy of Art. She is represented in the Uk by Alice Black Gallery, with whom she has an upcoming third solo show. Featured in Galerie Magazine as a 'Next Big Thing', Atalanta's art combines a highly technical skill set with a focus on world building and narratives, rooted in series-specific research. Her most recent show in London, 'Uteroverse' told the story of anthropomorphized sperm through a series of 1.5 x 2 meter paintings. She briefly worked at two start-ups in 2022, but has now been fully forgiven by the art community.
