I am collecting floral event industry data to share with participants about what markups and take home pay looks like at different years of experience across the industry, by region. If you no longer do flowers but want to contribute a data point you are also welcome to!
This can be from before you owned your own business, just relates to experience.
We recognize not everyone prefers the logistics of huge weddings, and higher isn't necessarily better. I expect below a certain experience level certain budgets are not in reach.
Example: Type 3 if you markup 3x. This means a $1 wholesale flower is $3 retail.
Use '1.5' for 1.5x or '4' for 4x. This is for items that do not get returned (non-rentals) compared to your wholesale cost.
How do you mark up for rentals? Examples: Type '0' if you don't separately calculate your wholesale cost of vessels into a rental charge built into your invoice regardless of whether it's calculated as part of the line item or on a separate rental line.
'0.5' if you charge them half of what you paid '2' for 2x etc.
This is what you pay yourself/a freelancer for the time designing the arrangement as a % of your marked up fresh product.
This is how much you charge for setup and delivery as a % of total items. There will be a separate section for an additional per mile calculation if you do that. Type 0 here if you only do mileage based.
If you only do a flat % type 0 here. If you charge $x per mile on top of your % of the order size use that. Type '0.67' for $0.67/mile or '3' for $3/mile

Totally recognizing this depends on business decisions around style, product cost and target market.
Include everything you invoice/charge to clients including sales tax.
Include everything! Sales tax, studio rent and utilities, website hosting and domain, liability insurance, accountant, employees/freelance labor, fresh product, inventory, business license fees, transaction fees, education, benefits you provide, virtual assisant, branding
In a facebook group someone asked if they can do flowers to support themselves full time or if they need a rich husband. There's no shame here.
