Our purpose as a liturgical choir is to give glory to God and to sanctify and edify the faithful through the worthy singing of sacred music aligned with the mind of the Church. It is our solemn duty, therefore, to prepare thoroughly and apply our very best efforts toward this goal. To that end, the following commitment shall be undertaken by all choir members:
>By choosing to be part of the choir, I am also choosing the obligation to regular rehearsal and Mass attendance as scheduled, and I will make this regular attendance--and punctual arrival--a priority in my schedule
>I will communicate occasional necessary absences from rehearsal or Mass in advance whenever possible
>I will participate with the choir at both Holy Redeemer and St. Mary's
>I understand that I may choose either the Summer (May-Jul) or Fall (Aug-Oct) quarter to take a 3-month choir break if I desire
>I will focus and work hard in rehearsal
>I will treat my fellow singers with kindness and respect (which includes maintaining a respectful quiet while other voice parts are practicing)
>I will read communications from the Director, who promises to strive for concision (not his strong suit, as you know!)
>I will maintain a reverent quiet in the choir loft before, during, & after Mass
>I will dress modestly and appropriately for Mass
>I understand that as a choir member I represent our parish, and will speak respectfully of our clergy and staff; if I have disagreements or concerns, I will address them respectfully through appropriate channels
>I understand that, while we can and should find great personal fulfillment and enjoyment from singing with a choir, our primary mission is to faithfully serve the liturgy and the parish, not ourselves
>I will approach new concepts and new music with an open mind, and will give my best work to learn new things
>I will offer my effort, time, and talent as a prayer
