Media Revolution is a broad, peaceful, inclusive and fully lawful campaign addressing the harmful impacts of billionaire-owned and corporate-driven media.

Our mission is to expose and dismantle toxic media systems and the damage they are doing - and crucially, at the same time - highlight and coordinate with the many responses to this.

Movement media is the alternative - for example; community-led, cooperative, well-regulated and independent sources and platforms. Ones that serve people and planet, rather than generating hate, division and obscene profits and power.

Media Revolution launches publicly in July 2025, leading up to 5 November 2025 - Media Liberation Day. This global day of action aims to amplify our shared need for truth, justice and radical media transformation.

From human rights, climate, social justice, nature protection, peace and everything in between. So many of us now see or feel the harmful effects of the malignant media.

Regulate, resist, replace - all are valid responses - and thousands are working on them - but alone, they are not enough.

Together we can work together in recognising and highlighting that the way the media operates is a systemic failure that undermines every struggle for a just and equitable world, and that to change the media is to change the future.

On the next pages, we outline how organisations can be part of the Media Revolution in ways that align with their objectives, values - and capacity - while gaining support for their own work too.

Media Revolution will...

...unite movements and efforts around our shared goals by doing the following:

• Provide resources, such as events and access to media literacy tools, alongside materials to help allies inspire their own members/followers to join us.

• Build momentum through public campaigning, growing alliances, and local/regional mobilisations. Increase supporter visibility by showcasing supporter organisations on the campaign website and social media: showing solidarity, increasing connections, growing audiences and broadening shared reach.

• Emphasise Inclusivity: Seek to remove barriers to participation by engaging with people of all backgrounds, especially those disproportionately harmed by toxic media. Strive to make all our work accessible and inclusive to all.

• Grow Movement Media: Publicly highlight existing grassroots journalism, indie and decentralised media, media unions and cooperative platforms that demonstrate ethical models. Advocate for significant structural reforms (policy changes, new/improved regulations, public funding mechanisms) which support these alternatives.

Ways to help

The following are ideas to get a feel for what type and level of input you may be able to offer.

Supply a logo for use on the 'supporter' page

Encourage audience/members to join in-person and/or online events.

Use social media/email marketing to help promote Media Revolution activities.

Attend, host or co-host meetups, workshops, or local rallies in the run-up to Media Liberation Day.

Issue press releases or public endorsements stating your alignment with the Media Revolution campaign.

Speak at events or in media interviews to amplify the need for radical media transformation.

Offer pro-bono services such as legal support, website development, writing and media support, or design work etc.

The technical bit!

We understand the importance of privacy and trust.

Media Revolution organisers and supporting partners agree to protect any sensitive information disclosed during planning or execution of campaign activities. Such information will be used solely to fulfil obligations set forth in this agreement.

AGREEMENT
Should a supporting organisation wish to withdraw its support, it may do so at any time by notifying us via email.

In the unlikely event that Media Revolution must end or pause a partnership, we will notify you promptly and clarify any necessary steps to conclude the collaboration responsibly
