Welcome to the BDA Youth Voice Project

We’re looking for young people aged 12–30 with lived experience of dyslexia to join our new BDA Youth Voice Project.

This is an opportunity to share your experiences, ideas and views and help shape the work we do. Youth Voice members will help us develop our campaigns, resources, events and communications, making sure they reflect the real experiences of young people with dyslexia.

The project will run for 12 months, with members placed into one of three age groups: 12–16, 17–23 or 24–30. You’ll have opportunities to take part in focus groups, surveys, events, content creation and peer activities - but you won't be expected to do everything. We want you to choose the things you’re interested in and feel comfortable with.

The commitment is designed to fit around everyday life. We’ll ask you to check-in with us once a month and take part in at least one activity each month, alongside occasional online catch-ups and updates. Each cohort will stay with us for 12 months maximum, to ensure we can open the opportunity up to as many people as possible.

We’re interested in hearing from young people with a wide range of experiences, backgrounds and perspectives. There are no right or wrong answers - we want to hear what matters to you.

Please note that a formal diagnosis of dyslexia is required to take part. If you are under 18, we will also need consent from a parent or guardian.

You must also reside in the United Kingdom.

Thank you for your interest in being part of the BDA Youth Voice Project. We’re looking forward to hearing from you!
