Neighbors of the Year 2026

This September, in honor of Holland's Good Neighbor Month, we want to acknowledge Holland residents who go above and beyond to be care for others and the places they live.

To appreciate these community members, Holland's neighborhood organizations and other partners are inviting you to nominate your good neighbors for a "Neighbor of the Year" award.

Nomination Info

Who can be nominated

Individual nominees (all ages) must reside in the City of Holland
Individuals may not self-nominate for this award;
Nominees may not be compensated for the service described in the nominations
Elected officials may not participate as nominees.

We give preference to neighbors who connect with others through events, service, or everyday interaction.

What makes a good neighbor

They make their neighborhood better.
They know and interact with their immediate neighbors.
They try to make sure people in the neighborhood feel included.
They attend and help at neighborhood activities.
They devote time & talent in service to their neighborhood.
Their engagement as a neighbor makes the area better for everyone!

What happens next

One neighbor will be selected from each neighborhood by the partnering organizations at Holland's 'Good Neighbor Celebration' on September 26th. At that event, awards will be presented and all nominees will receive a small gift as a token of appreciation for their commitment to making their neighborhoods a great place to live.
